Rich in history, high in quality

Once part of RAF Hemswell – the home of the Lancaster Bomber during the Second World War. This beautiful collection of family homes is the perfect place to make your own history.

The first airfield on the site was opened in 1918 by the Royal Flying Corps and called RFCS Harpswell. During the First World War it was used as a night landing ground and two night flying training squadrons were established there.

The airfield used by RAF Bomber Command for 20 years between 1937 and 1957 saw most of its operational life during the Second World War. RAF Hemswell was immortalised on film when it was used as a substitute for RAF Scampton in all the ground based filming of the 1954 war film The Dambusters.

Our development is named after and inspired by No. 83 Squadron RAF renamed Antler which was Royal Flying Corps and Royal Air Force squadron active from 1917 until 1969. It was operative during both the First World War and the Second World War. The squadron flew against concentrations of invasion shipping in the Channel Ports in the late summer and autumn of 1940. The antler in the badge affords reference to night flying and the three top points stand for the crown of success met with by the squadron. It returned to Hemswell where it remained until disbanding in 1955.
